At least 10 terrorists were killed and one apprehended while two managed to escape after the security forces launched an intelligence-based operation to clear a hideout in Balochistan’s Hoshab area on Tuesday, the military said.

Terrorists were linked with firing incidents targeting security forces and civilians alike besides planting of improvised explosive devices on M-8, military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a statement.

As security forces were in process of establishing blocking positions after identification of 12 to14 terrorists’ location, they opened fire on the troops, it said.

During ensuing heavy exchange of fire, 10 terrorists were killed and one was apprehended in injured condition while two terrorists managed to escape, the ISPR statement said, adding that the operation to trace them continued in the area.

It said that a heavy cache of arms and ammunition including improvised explosive devices has also been recovered from their possession.

“Security forces, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan,” the ISPR maintained.
