Traffic plan for cricket matches finalised

Official says more than 432 cops to be deployed near cricket stadium

The Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) on Friday finalised traffic arrangements for the Pak-England cricket matches to be played here at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.

According to a spokesman, more than 432 personnel will perform their duties during the matches to maintain traffic flow.

In case of a rush of cricket fans on the Double Road, additional traffic police personnel will be deployed on other alternate routes, he said.

On the same day, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Nasir Mehmood Satti said all available resources would be utilised for the foolproof security of players and fans. A spokesman said the RPO reviewed the security arrangements during a meeting.

SSP Operations Waseem Riaz, SSP Special Branch, Bilal Iftikhar, SSP Legal, Azmat Hayat, SP Rawal, and other officers were also present on the occasion, he said adding that the officer said best security and traffic arrangements would be ensured for the Pakistan-England cricket matches.
