RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi Health Department has given a go-ahead for a proposal to upgrade three tehsil headquarters hospitals (THQs) and nine dispensaries across the district into mini hospitals.

According to sources, the project will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs150 million.

Sources also said that THQ Murree, Kallar Syedan, and Kotli Sattian will be upgraded at a cost of over Rs122 million.

The competent authority has approved an increase in the supply of vaccinations and medications for snake and dog bites at six tehsil headquarters hospitals in the districts of Murree, Kotli Sattian, Kallar Syedan, Kahuta, Gujjar Khan, and Taxila, they said.

These medications and vaccines will be provided to patients free of cost, the informed sources added.

It is worth mentioning here that medications for dog and snake bites have not been available at these tehsil hospitals for nearly past ten years.

As per the new project, over Rs39 million would be spent on upgrading Kallar Syedan THQ while over Rs40 million will be spent for upgrading Murree THQ, and over Rs42 million will be used for Kotli Sattian THQ’s upgradation, they said.

The estimated cost of upgrading primary healthcare facilities and dispensaries is said to be around Rs30 million, sources informed.
