Punjab Chief Minister has said fool-proof security arrangements have been made for the participants of the “Haqeeqi Azadi March” and the safety of Imran Khan will be ensured in Rawalpindi.

“All resources will be used to implement the fool-proof security plan,” he added.

The CM expressed these views during a meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry at his office on Friday. They held a detailed discussion on the political situation and the security arrangements regarding the third phase of the march.

The chief minister said all resources will be used to implement the fool-proof security plan.

“Allah has honoured us and the provincial government is working day and night for the welfare of the people.” Pervaiz Elahi asserted no political adventure would succeed in Punjab.

“Claims were made in the past but opponents faced defeat and they would be unsuccessful again,” he added. “The N-League is becoming unpopular with every passing day. The Punjab government will fulfil the duty of protecting the participants of the march in the best possible way,” the CM reiterated.

“PTI Chairman Imran Khan is the most popular leader of Pakistan who has shown the nation the way to live with sovereignty and dignity,” he maintained, adding that Khan has given the message of true freedom to the nation and that people are with him.

Fawad Chaudhry invited CM Pervaiz Elahi to visit Jhelum.

The CM said he would visit Jhelum at the first opportunity and a public welfare project will be announced.

“The best arrangements have been made for the march. The participants have been peaceful in the past and will remain so in the future,” said Fawad.

Earlier, the chief minister felicitated Lt-Gen Syed Asim Munir on his elevation as Chief of the Army Staff and Lt-Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza for being appointed as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.

In his message of felicitations, the CM expressed good wishes and added that both were highly competent and professional officers. After the appointment of the new army chief, speculations should stop now.

Separately, the chief minister said that violence against women is a criminal act and made it clear that any brutality or oppression against women is intolerable.

In his message, the CM said “we must stop all types of violence against women in society”. He said Islam gives equal rights to women and there were clear orders about the rights of women in the Holy Qur'an's Surat al-Nisa, he added and pointed out that women were given the right to protection, education, work and freedom of choice by Islam.

“The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasised the sanctity of women and their rights and demonstrated exemplary conduct towards women. Women should not succumb to any form of violence and oppression but stand up for their rights,” the CM remarked.

“This day ensures protection for women victims of violence and allows them to lead a dignified life. We must fulfil religious, social and moral responsibilities and pledge to end all forms of violence against women,” the CM pointed out.

Elahi also expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of actor Ismail Tara and extended sympathies to the bereaved heirs.
