Sindh death toll hits 61 mark with 49 deaths reported in Karachi alone

Dengue virus has claimed another life in Karachi on Thursday after which the number of deaths due to the hemorrhagic fever in the entire province has increased to 61 of which 49 belong to the metropolis. Family of the latest victim, a woman from district central, refused to share her details.

According to the statistics released by Sindh Health Department, 89 more cases of dengue virus were reported in the province of Sindh during the last 24 hours, of which 30 were from Karachi.

During the last 24 hours, the highest number of dengue cases, nine, were reported from the Central district of Karachi, while six have been reported in East, five in Korangi, seven in South, two in Malir and one in West district.

A total of 1,371 cases of dengue fever were reported in Karachi so far this month, while 16,00 were reported this year till now.

In the past 24 hours, 53 cases were reported in Hyderabad, two in Mirpurkhas, three in Sukkur, one in Sanghar and one in Shaheed Benazirabad. This year, the total number of dengue cases across Sindh has increased to 21,835 including 16,000 from Karachi.
