Tennis: Hewitt likely to play Davis Cup tie
Likely to play in Australia’s Davis Cup playoff tie next month, despite a foot injury.
MELBOURNE:
Former world number one Lleyton Hewitt is likely to play in Australia’s Davis Cup playoff tie next month, despite a foot injury. Hewitt pulled out of the US Open after suffering a painful exit from the Winston-Salem Open. Hewitt’s manager David Drysdale said he needed to rest his injured toe but had nonetheless committed to the Davis Cup tie. “I’ll be surprised if he didn’t play,” said Drysdale. “The grass courts won’t be as much of a strain on the injury.”
