RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has floated tenders to start work on 138 development projects worth over Rs550 million.

The development projects had jointly been recommended by Awami Muslim League’s MNA Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, an MNA of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and four PTI members of the Punjab Assembly.

After the opening of the tenders on December 5, the contract will be awarded

These development schemes include the construction and repair of roads and streets, the construction and repair of sewers and the installation of street lights.

Funds for these development schemes were not being released after the completion of the tenure of the local bodies across Punjab including in Rawalpindi.

According to sources in the RMC, following the instructions of the Punjab government, development schemes were being started in the constituencies of MPAs belonging to Rawalpindi.

Sources said that the MPAs have been asked to submit priority areas for the uplift schemes as soon as possible so that work can be started on them under the annual development programme.
