‘Mega-milestone for Pakistan’: ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ crosses Rs200 crores

Bilal Lashari’s magnum opus has created a mark so deep into people’s hearts that they can’t stop watching it even after a month of its release. According to producer Ammarah Hikmat, her film The Legend of Maula Jatt has now crossed the Rs200 crore benchmark as well at the box office and we can’t be prouder of their continued success.

On Monday, Hikmat took to her Instagram with a poster revealing the news and cheered the team behind TLOMJ. “For all those who believed in the legend!” she captioned the post and tagged the cast and crew. The poster, revealing box office numbers, claimed that the film minted Rs80 crore domestically while it grossed over Rs120 crore at a global level.

Recently, the cult-classic thriller became the highest-grossing Punjabi film of all time at the global box office in the fourth week of its release. A press release stated that Lashari’s directorial successfully surpassed the lifetime earnings of all the Punjabi hits including Carry on Jatta 2, Saunkan Saunkne and Chal Mera Putt 2 as it sits tall with box office earnings of Rs172 crore worldwide.

Previously, the film has managed to break other records and has already added many titles to its name including; highest grossing Pakistani film and the second-highest-grossing film in the UK for the year 2022 as well as the most-watched South Asian film in Norway.

The Legend of Maula Jatt was released on October 13, 2022 in 25 different territories with 500+ screens - making it one of the biggest releases to come out of Pakistan.
