We give too much credit to actors; actors do nothing by the way: Priyanka Chopra

Chopra, in a recent interview, said she was able to take chances after working with the biggest names in the world

Priyanka Chopra is spilling the beans. The former Miss World, who has managed to make a name for herself in the Indian film industry as well as Hollywood, has recently spoken about how actors are given far too much credit than they deserve.

In an interview with Janice Sequeira, Chopra said that she was able to take chances after working with the biggest names in the world. “This doesn't have to do with just working with the best in the business in the States (US). Even when I was working in Bollywood, working with the best filmmakers taught me how to be the best actor."

She went on to comment, "We give too much credit to actors; actors do nothing by the way. We really don't. I've always said this. Actors do nothing. Those 30 seconds of a scene, is where I come in. And then when I talk about the movie etc. So I have a very limited role."

Chopra continued, “We say out somebody else's words, we are working on a script that is written by someone else, we are lip-syncing and singing songs that are in someone else's voice. We're dancing steps that are choreographed by somebody else. We are doing marketing, where questions are asked by somebody else. We are dressed by somebody, hair and makeup are done by somebody. So what am I doing?”

On the work front, Chopra will be seen in several projects. The actor is all set to star next in It's All Coming Back To Me. She will also be a part of the series Citadel along with Richard Madden. Produced by Russo Brothers, Citadel will hit the OTT on Prime Video. The upcoming sci-fi drama series is being directed by Patrick Morgan. In Bollywood, Chopra will also star with Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif in Farhan Akhtar's Jee Le Zaraa.

Talking about how the generation has changed when it comes to viewing female-centric films, Chopra had shared, “My generation of actresses really opened the door for the next generation of actresses to be the faces on the posters, to be able to sell movies. So, I really wanted to bring together my friends and say ‘let’s create a movie that will do well at the box office and it will be ours’. So, the stars aligned and we decided to do it. Hopefully, we will start shooting it next year.”
