2,621 UET graduates awarded degrees
Degrees were distributed among 2,621 graduating students in the 29th convocation of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore.
According to the university, as many as 1,842 degrees of bachelors, 758 masters and 21 doctorate were given. Students with best results were awarded 64 gold medals.
Addressing the participants of the convocation, Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman said the country was making progress rapidly due to UET’s engineers.
“Faculty development projects and workshops, initiatives for empowering women in STEM, patents, establishment of the UET Academy, new degree programmes, 19 functional research centres, volunteer work done by students’ societies, plantation drives, seminars and international conferences unequivocally reflect the unwavering determination of the UET towards preparing the students for a better tomorrow,” he added.
Vice Chancellor Dr Mansoor Sarwar said UET students had won the first position in four out of five engineering fields in a contest of projects among 35 universities.
He said 113 teachers of the university had received research grants of Rs650 million since 2019.
