71-year-old labourer electrocuted in Pindi

Sources say he was walking in the street with his swing when he came in contact with dangling electric wires

RAWALPINDI:

A 71-year-old man was electrocuted to death after his swing struck the hanging wires in the street near the Pirwadhai police station on Saturday.

According to the Rescue 1122 spokesperson, the locals reported that Muhammad Miskeen used to give rides to children on his swing that he carried around to earn a livelihood. He said that Miskeen suffered electric shocks which resulted in his death.

Sources said that he was walking in the street with his swing when he came in contact with dangling electric wires. Since his swing was made up of iron, it instantly gave him an electric shock which proved fatal.

Rescue 1122 was called and the police was immediately informed. The body was taken to the hospital in the presence of the police and his family was also located so that they could be informed of his death.

On the same day, police busted a motorcycle-lifter gang and arrested its four members including ringleader.

According to a police spokesman, a team under the supervision of SHO, Murree Police Station managed to net four motorcycle lifters named Asim, ringleader, Imran, Adil and Nusrat and recovered six stolen motorcycles from their possession.
