KARACHI:

An important development has taken place in the case of gruesome torture and murder of a 14-year-old boy in Karachi.

The district east police, while taking targeted action on technical grounds, arrested the woman and her son who left the body of a teenage boy in hospital in Bahadurabad and escaped. The police arrested them from a bungalow in Shaheed-e-Millat area. The woman has been identified as Samreen Javed and her son has been identified as Farhan Javed.

According to police, the deceased boy, a domestic worker, has been identified as Aftab, and hailed from a town in Punjab. During the initial investigation, the mother and son have confessed to the crime.

The police said, the suspects gave their statement saying that they beat the child for stealing Rs20,000. The child's condition worsened during the night after being hit by a hard object. The owners tried to treat the child at home but in the morning, the condition deteriorated and they took the child to the hospital. The police said, that it has not yet been determined who actually beat the child.

Police said that the chemical analysis and DNA report of the child's body is awaited, after which something can be said with certainty about the incident.
