MUZAFFARGARH:

Two robbers involved in killing three minor boys during a robbery bid were killed by their own accomplices during a police encounter.

A police spokesman said on Thursday that police arrested two suspected robbers, identified as Majeed Khand and Sadiq Darkhan, who had allegedly killed three boys for posing resistance during a robbery bid last month in the Kot Addu area. The suspects had stolen a motorcycle from a citizen near old vegetable market on October 24 before shooting three minor boys dead over posing resistance.

Sadar police were shifting the arrested suspects to Ehsan Pur for identification, when five unidentified suspects attacked the police van near Sandela chowk to free their accomplices from police custody. During the gunfight, the two suspects in police custody were killed by the firing of their own accomplices.

Upon receiving the information, police rushed to the scene and cordoned off entry and exit points of the district to arrest the five attackers.

The police were also conducting raids to arrest one of the fleeing attackers, Kashif Rind.
