Incentives in SEZs offered to Argentine investors
Federal Minister for Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar has asked Argentina’s business community to take advantage of the incentives being offered by Pakistan in its Special Economic Zones (SEZs). The minister, during a visit to the Chamber of Commerce-Asia Pacific in Buenos Aires, invited businessmen to explore business and investment opportunities in Pakistan, particularly in SEZs of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), said a statement issued by the commerce ministry on Tuesday.
He urged the chamber to send a trade delegation to Pakistan for business-tobusiness meetings with the relevant stakeholders. Argentina’s businessmen were also asked to capitalise on the excellent opportunities of trade and investment in Pakistan. However, the minister stated that the current level of bilateral trade was not commensurate with the real potential. “Pakistan has put in place an investor-friendly regime with scores of incentives, both fiscal and infrastructure, including duty and tax exemption on the import of plant and machinery by various sectors,” he highlighted.
Regarding cooperation in the agriculture sector, the minister appreciated the proposal of procuring silo bags and grain preservation technology from Argentina, which had great expertise in the area. He invited the chamber leaders to participate in Pakistan’s premier textile and fashion industry exhibition Texpo-2022, which was slated for May 26-28, 2023 in Karachi.
