A lot can be exaggerated: Sonya Hussyn talks about working with actors accused of domestic violence

Actor spills details about her ongoing payment dispute with Urwa Hocane, her thoughts on domestic violence

Last month, Sonya Hussyn sent a legal notice to Urwa Hocane, the producer of her upcoming film Tich Button, regarding unsettled payment dues. Within minutes, the news of the lawsuit went viral on social media with fans rolling queries for both stars. Recently, the Saraab actor appeared on The Talk Talk Show and disclosed more details regarding the dispute, revealing how both parties are willing to resolve the aforementioned lawsuit in a settlement.

After a heartfelt talk about her parents, Hussyn then promised to respond to every question regarding the lawsuit with the "truth." On being asked about her absence from all of Tich Button's promotions, the actor pointed out that everyone is aware of the reason already. She said, "There is nothing hidden anymore, everybody knows everything about it now. The issue is out already, and the masses are aware of the reasoning behind my absence."

Hussyn also revealed that there were more reasons behind the conflict, but the unpaid dues were still the primary ones. "Yes, there are many reasons, but payment is the main issue. It was a good time, but sometimes you can't build chemistry with other people, and I try to keep my distance from people who don't match my vibe," she added.

However, Hussyn went on to reveal that both parties are willing to mutually resolve the matter. She said, "Yes, they have talked to my lawyer in a meeting and they are discussing a settlement. I mean if this happened earlier, it wouldn't be a big issue now."

However, she lamented the idea of joining the ongoing promotions and expressed that she won't be doing them. "They also might ask me to come to the future promotions and I most likely won't do that." She noted.

While talking about the film, Hussyn also highlighted how her character lacks depth and she is not satisfied with her role. She expressed, "Yes, I am in the film, but if one is not satisfied with their character, they don't prefer to own it. Since that is the same case here and I'm not satisfied with my character in Tich Button, I won't be promoting it."

Tich Button trailer's feedback

In contrast to the dispute, Hussyn went on to compliment the film and highlighted the excellent feedback she received from fans and mutuals alike. She said, "The feedback on the trailer was great, I received many messages from people. The song was great, and everyone put their effort into the film." The Ishq Zah-e-Naseeb star also urged others to watch the film and then make their judgments. "Just because I have a few personal issues, doesn't mean the film isn't great and people will enjoy it."

The Haasil actor ended the conversation around Tich Button on a heartwarming note by pointing out the hard work put into the film's production. "It's usually said that the film took blood and sweat to be made, but that was the actual case here. Once Farhan landed on a metal object and was injured. Another time, I was doing a scene and stepped on a tool on the floor and bled profusely," she concluded.

Hussyn on working with actors accused of domestic violence

Another highlight of the interview was Hussyn's view on working with actors who have been accused of domestic violence. Being associated with both Mohsin Abbas Haider and Khan during their abuse cases, Hussyn had plenty to share with the audience.

She first spoke against domestic violence and opined that she will never support such an "inhumane" action, but still does not believe in labelling victims or culprits in a subjudice matter. She noted, "Some things are very personal, and I am against domestic violence, it is a very inhumane act. But, I don't know their household matters personally, and many things can be exaggerated, therefore I can't say anything about it from just looking at pictures and labelling someone as a victim or culprit. Until I talk to both parties, I can't make any statement."

She also revealed that she doesn't prefer asking Khan about the ongoing case as she doesn't share a personal equation with him and considers him a colleague. "I am friends with Feroze, but not enough to ask anything [about the case]. I don't feel good probing about someone else's personal life," Hussyn added.

The star also reasoned that taking away someone's work amid accusations is the wrong reaction. Speaking about the Siyani actor, Hussyn pointed out the difficulties Haider faced during his trial in court. "I noticed was he cancelled out from everywhere, was kicked out of projects and was not being hired. I don't think this is the right approach. I have seen the time that Mohsin did not even have the money to feed himself, and that is not the right thing."

She concluded her discussion by sharing her indifference to the cancel culture. Hussyn also revealed that does not support isolating another person from society. Instead, she believes the accused should be taken to therapy and get treatment for their issues.

"I understand if two people have issues in their marriage, and you can talk to them personally and take away their work. Until you talk to them, take them to therapy if the accusation is true. Have conservation with them, not pressure them, and isolate the person from society. These actions actually take a person towards more suicidal thoughts. This is not the right reaction to handle these situations," she concluded.
