PTI’s Sahil arrested, acquitted in seditious speech case
Judicial Magistrate South acquitted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Subhan Sahil in the seditious speech case and released him on his own surety bond of Rs3 million under Section 63 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
Sahil was produced before Judicial Magistrate South at Karachi City Court in the provocative speech case.
Opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh and other leaders were also present in the court along with the arrested leader of PTI.
The magistrate told the public prosecutor that the section of provocative seditious speech does not belong to this court rather it was the purview of the Anti-Terrorism Court to hear it.
The lawyer of Sahil took the position that the provisions which have been imposed, could not be imposed without the permission of the provincial and federal governments.
The court acquitted Subhan Sahil and ordered his release.
'Illegal detention'
Sindh police had arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Subhan Ali from Gulshan-e-Iqbal near Baitul Mukarram and shifted him to unknown place. The Aziz Bhatti police SHO, Adeel Afzal, however, said, he did not know about Subhan's arrest.
The spokesperson for PTI Sindh chapter and member of provincial assembly, Arslam Taj, while condemning the arrest of senior leader and former president of PTI Karachi, said that the panic of Sindh government could be judged from the arrest of Sahil. "We are ready to face all kind of situations, why they are afraid of peaceful workers and leaders, every person of PTI is Imran Khan, how many they will arrest," he said.
