A woman and her daughter were killed while 13 others were critically injured in a huge explosion triggered by gas leakage at an apartment in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar locality late on Saturday night.
Sana Basheer, 40, and her daughter Alishba Basheer, 18, succumbed to their injuries during treatment at the Burns Ward of the Dr Ruth KM Pfau Civil Hospital on Sunday.
Overall, 15 people, including women and children, were injured in the gas leakage blast at their flat that also damaged the two neighbouring flats of the Rado Apartments in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
The sound of the blast was so intense that it broke the walls of neighbouring flats and caused cracks in the building too.
Police, Edhi, and Cheepa volunteers rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby private hospital from where the seriously injured were shifted to the Burns Ward of Civil Hospital.
