Revenue officials warn of strike from Monday

Set a six-point charter of demand including better pay, promotions and recruitment

All Mukhtiarkars and Sub- Mukhtiarkars (revenue officials) of Sindh have announced a strike from Monday if their six-point charter of demands is not accepted by the provincial government.

They will boycott their offices and gather outside the office of Board of Revenue Hyderabad to spell out their demands, representatives of the revenue officials told the media at a press conference.

They said that they are demanding that the promotion of Mukhtiarkars should be made on seniority basis and in accordance with the Sindh High Court judgment; field and utility allowance should be given to Mukhtiarkars like other government officials; Mukhtiarkars should be given official conveyance and allowance for its maintenance; the grade of Assistant Mukhtiarkar should be upgraded to BPS- 16 and that of Mukhtiarkar to BPS-17.

They said that they are also demand that the vacancies should be created for candidates who have cleared the tests for Mukhtiarkar and Assistant Mukhtiarkar.

A budget head should be allocated separately with powers of DDO to Mukhtiarkars.

According to the Mukhtiarkars, they also carry out anti-encroachment campaigns and play their role during vaccination campaigns against polio, dengue and Covid.

They said that their exemplary role in all matters, including relief and rehabilitation of the people affected by rains and floods, is not hidden from anyone.

In spite of carrying out all these tasks, the Mukhtiarkars and Sub-Mukhtiarkars are being deprived of their legitimate rights.

However, they would now continue their protests until the acceptance of their demands.
