Woman allegedly axed to death by husband

Asghar severely injured his wife Asia by striking her head, neck and other parts of the body with an axe.

DIJKOT:

A man allegedly murdered his wife with an axe over a domestic dispute, while unknown suspects strangled an elderly man to death.

The police turned over the victims’ bodies to their relatives after a post-mortem and registered murder cases against the nominated and unknown accused. Raids are under way to arrest them.

According to a police report, Muhammad Asghar, a resident of Malhoani, was married to Asia Bibi eight years ago, but their relationship had soured and the couple reportedly quarreled frequently.

On Sunday night, there was a fight, after which Asghar severely injured his wife Asia by striking her head, neck and other parts of the body with an axe. The accused fled the scene. Asia Bibi was rushed to Allied Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Police registered a case against her husband on charges of murder, upon the complaint of the victim’s brother Ghulam Mustafa. The body was handed over to the relatives of the deceased after the post-mortem.

Meanwhile, 70-year-old Muhammad Panah, a resident of Chak Jhumra, who had rented a house at Jalla Chowk and started a poultry business, he was alone at home when unknown persons came there and strangled him to death.

Upon learning about his murder, his brother Talib Hussain informed the police. The police handed over the body to the relatives after completing the legal requirements.
