21 commodities have gotten expensive

 Inflation is on the rise across the country as weekly inflation has gone up by 0.53 percent, while annual inflation has been recorded at 30.60 percent.

According to the weekly inflation report of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the prices of 21 essential commodities increased and those of nine commodities decreased in the recent week, while the rates of 21 items remained stable.

According to PBS, in the past week, tomato prices have increased by 15.97 percent, onion prices by 9.38 percent, salt prices by 2.58 percent, potato prices by 2.88 percent, and matches prices by 1.34 percent.

According to the report, a decrease of 3.37 percent was recorded in the price of chickpeas, 1.75 percent in the price of LPG, 2.25 percent in the price of daal masoor, 1.08 percent in the price of daal channa, 0.16 percent in the price of daal mash, 0.09 percent in the price of vegetable ghee and 0.07 percent in the price of flour.

The bureau said that the prices of 21 essential commodities remained stable.

According to PBS, during the last week, the inflation rate for the group with income up to Rs17,732 per month was 26.72 percent on an annual basis, 28.46 percent for the group with income from Rs17,733 to Rs22,888, 30.29 percent for the group earning Rs22,889 to Rs29,517, 31.41 percent for the group having an income of Rs29,518 to Rs44,175 and 31.67 percent for the group earning more than Rs44,176 per month.
