Lawyers observe strikes against attack on Imran Khan
Lawyers on Friday observed a strike against the assassination attempt on PTI chief Imran Khan and boycotted the court proceedings across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council had given a strike call which condemned the attack at PTI rally which left one dead and several others injured.
“If the former prime minister of this country is not safe then the security arrangements are a big question mark,” a press statement issued by the K-P Bar Council said.
A meeting of the Peshawar High Court Bar Association was held here chaired by President Rehmanullah. The meeting condemned the attack on the participants of PTI long march and said that the attack should be properly investigated.
Meanwhile petitioners faced great inconvenience due to the strike by the lawyers community as people from far flung areas had reached Peshawar in connection with their cases in the courts.
The Bar Council in its statement also said that a protest is the constitutional right of any citizen of Pakistan and it could not be denied to it by any one.
PTI sit-In
A large number of PTI workers gathered on motorway and staged a sit-in against the attack at PTI chief Imran Khan. They chanted slogans against the attackers and demanded a judicial inquiry in the case.
Due to the protest and sit-in traffic remained suspended on the motorway for hours.
It may be mentioned here that the PTI leadership had called on the party supporters not to block roads for prolonged hours but protest away from the main roads but still the party members staged protests across the province, blocking roads and burning tyres.
