Talk enlightened audience about symptoms of breast cancer, self-examination, and ways to reduce, prevent breast cancer

ISLAMABAD:

The Rawalpindi Women University (RWU) in collaboration with Faisalabad Medical University (FMU) organised an awareness seminar on “breast cancer and mental health” in Rawalpindi.

Addressing the seminar, FMU Vice-Chancellor Dr Zafar Ali Choudry talked about the menace of breast cancer saying some 2.1 million people were impacted by the disease each year globally. He said that one in every nine women in Pakistan suffered from breast cancer.

His talk enlightened the audience about the symptoms of breast cancer, self-examination, and ways to reduce and prevent breast cancer.

President Pakistan Psychiatric Society and Chairman Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences FMU, Dr Imtiaz Ahmad Dogar shed light on the importance of mental health and well-being. He also elaborated on the current ratio of depression & suicides in youth globally.

In this regard, Consultant Psychiatrist in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences FMU, Dr Tooba Obeer, while speaking on the topic of narcotics and drug abuse said that it is spreading like a wildfire not only resulting in HIV/AIDS but is also affecting physical, social and mental health.
