In a recent turn of events, Bollywood’s leading filmmaker and everyone’s favourite host Karan Johar was spotted watching The Legend of Maula Jatt (TLOMJ) in Dubai and Pakistani fans could not be happier!
Karan was seen enjoying the epic Punjabi actioner at a screening in Dubai where he was captured by a member of the audience in the cinema hall. Photos from the screening have since been doing the rounds on social media.
One of these photos sees Karan smiling at the screen while another sees him leaving the hall as credits roll out with TLOMJ writer Nasir Adeeb’s name flashing in the background.

Karan is the first Indian public figure to have been spotted watching the Pakistani blockbuster. Provided Fawad Khan’s last acting stint was Karan’s Ae Dil Hai Muskil, which released in October 2016, it isn’t a surprise that Karan showed up to watch his grand, big screen comeback. "He’s very close to Fawad Khan," a user also noted.
However, the filmmaker has not mentioned anything about the film of having attended its screening on his social media handles. The producer and director is yet to comment on his pictures circulating online either.
Bilal Lashari and Ammara Hikmat's magnum opus, TLOMJ, which stars Fawad, alongside Mahira Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi, has already achieved a historic milestone in its second week of release. According to Deadline, TLOMJ is the first Pakistani film to have crossed PKR 100cr ($4.5 million) globally.
The largest-mounted Punjabi-language Pakistani film to date, on its 13th day, collected more than the than the combined first day collections of Akshay Kumar's Ram Setu and Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra’s Thank God.
The publication, while sharing the box-office numbers of the film, revealed, "Through Tuesday, The Legend of Maula Jatt had taken PKR115 crore ($5.2 million). Of that, PKR33 crore ($1.5million) is from the home country and PKR82 crore ($3.7 million) is from offshore markets. In the UK, it is the highest-grossing Punjabi movie ever with £866K ($1 million) through Wednesday."
The report further added, "In the US, the epic across two weekends has done $728,000, and in Canada $525,000 through Sunday. Midweek performance has also been strong, notably in the UK, Canada and Australia."
