Balochistan orders security of polio workers scaled up
Taking into account the recent attacks at anti-polio vaccination teams and policemen guarding them, the Advisor to Chief Minister Balochistan on Home and Tribal Affairs, Mir Ziaullah Langu has said that all necessary measures should be taken to protect the polio workers.
He added that the DIGs of the respective areas should regularly review the security of the workers during the vaccination campaign.
Recently polio vaccination teams were attacked in Pishin and Chaman districts of Balochistan as a Levies man was martyred while guarding the polio team in Chaman.
He was addressing a high-level meeting regarding law and order held in Quetta and chaired by him.
The meeting reviewed the situation of law and order in the province in depth.
Home Secretary Zahid Salim and Additional IG Salman gave a detailed briefing on the current situation.

The participants of the meeting agreed with Mir Ziaullah that all institutions will play their role to prevent crimes. All necessary measures would be taken to protect the lives and property of the people because activities against the national interest cannot be allowed.
The home advisor directed that due to conflicts between clans in the province no one should be allowed to disrupt the daily life of the general public and ordered them to launch a campaign throughout the province to arrest the accused involved in heinous crimes.
He said that the protection of lives and property of the population was the top priority of the provincial government, and he also instructed submission of a weekly report regarding the arrest of the accused.
“I am regularly reviewing the peace and security situation myself,” he said.
The home advisor maintained that according to the vision of the chief minister of Balochistan, maintaining order in all areas of the province and the protection of the life and property of the people is our first priority and the duty of the police is to ensure the safety of the people and the supremacy of the law.
