A 22-year-old man was killed and five others injured after a fight erupted at a wedding ceremony in Indian state of Utter Pradesh due to a shortage of "rasgullas", the Indian media reported.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night at the wedding ceremony in Indian town of Etmadpur. According to local police, an argument erupted between the bride’s and the groom’s side due to the shortage of rasgulla sweets.

“The argument over the shortage of the sweets escalated into a serious fight and one man attacked the attendees with a knife," local police officer Ravi Kumar Gupta said.

Gupta said that 22-year-old Sunny, died at a local hospital due to serious injuries he sustained during the fight. His body was sent for post-mortem.

Five persons who were injured in the attack were rushed to a local hospital where they were treated for their wounds. A complaint has been filed by the victim’s family but no arrest has been made so far.

“Further action will be taken as per the complaint of the victim’s family,” said Gupta.
