LAHORE:

Unlike previous long marches, Lahore police have taken a more passive approach in their preparations and security measures ahead of the recently-announced PTI long march.

Lahore is no stranger to long marches, such as that led by the Pakistani Awami Tehreek (PAT) in 2014.

Heavy-handed crowd control, raids to arrest activists and blocking entry and exit points of the city by placing containers have been a mainstay of prior marches.

Conspicuously, none of these appear to be in the works.

The Pakistan Tehreeke-Insaf (PTI)'s long March is scheduled to start from Gulberg’s Liberty Chowk on Friday.
