Governor lauds minorities’ role
Speaking at the launch of Raja Nathaniel Gill's book "Role of Christians in Pakistan Movement" at Governor House on Thursday, Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman congratulated Gill for writing an interesting and unique book, adding that the Christian community played a very important role in the freedom movement.
The Governor said that after the creation of Pakistan, Christians not only played a significant role in the country’s development, but the services of the Christian community in the fields of education, health, judiciary and defence are unforgettable.
He stated that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has held all minorities, including the Christian community, in high regard, adding that Senator Kamran Michael is the first-ever minority minister to present the budget of Punjab.
He further added that writers are an asset to the country and the nation who lead society in the right direction by highlighting different problems. While speaking at the book launch, other speakers said that the role of the Christian community in Pakistan is unforgettable.
