CHARSADDA:

A constable was injured when a police station was attacked with a hand grenade in Charsadda district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Wednesday.

Police said that Shabqadar police station came under attack in the evening in which one Police Constable Shabir was injured who has been rushed to the nearby hospital where his condition is stated to be critical.

The attackers managed to escape after police returned fire but the attack panicked the local population.

A large contingent of police reached the area and started a door-todoor search operation but there was no sign of the attackers.

Shabqadar is considered the most troubled tehsil of Charsadda as it is located adjacent to the Mohmand tribal district which remained the main hub of militancy in the recent past.

Similarly, in a separate incident, a market was also attacked with hand grenade on the outskirts of Peshawar.

Police said that the owner was constantly receiving threats from Afghan SIM and the callers were demanding extortion.

“There is no loss of life in the attack but it caused widespread panic in the locality,” said a local, adding that militants were once again active in the area and they regularly patrol the villages without inviting any attention from the quarters concerned.
