QUETTA:

A policeman was martyred in a hand grenade attack in Balochistan’s Kachhi district on Wednesday.

Police said unidentified armed men attacked the Dhadar Police Station, killing one policeman on the spot.

They said that the slain policeman was a resident of Bhag city and the attackers managed to escape after committing the crime.

“The attackers were repulsed after police responded in a befitting manner,” said a police official, adding that a large contingent of police was sent as reinforcement to the police station but the attackers had fled before the contingent could reach the station.

A door-to-door search was launched in the area and many were arrested on suspicion who were later released.

The body of the martyred policeman was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Kachhi for autopsy.

The last rites of the slain constable were offered with full guard of honour after which the body was sent to ancestral graveyard for burial.

Police registered an FIR and started investigation in the case.
