KARACHI:

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has challenged the Sindh Police decision of sending 6,000 cops to Islamabad to halt the long march. It has been requested in the petition filed by opposition leader Haleem Adil Sheikh that the governments of Pakistan, Sindh, and IG Sindh should all be given orders and instructions to bring back 6,000 police personnel.

Instead, the order should be given to the Sindh government and IG Sindh to deploy police personnel to prevent street crime in Karachi, the petition said adding, police officers are desperately needed in Sindh flood-affected areas.

For the past several months, Karachi has seen an increase in street crime. Police presence is essential for public safety. The Government of Pakistan, the Government of Sindh, and IG Sindh have been made parties in the petition.
