KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered to complete the process of compensation payments to the families of missing persons and submit a report on it.

Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon appeared before the court and submitted that the compensation is being paid in consultation with the parties as per the court order.

The Additional Advocate General submitted that the enforced disappearance of 12 persons has been proved while cheques of Rs500,000 have been prepared for each of the six families.

He said that more cheques could not be prepared due to lack of important documents.

“If the court grants one more week, more cheques will be prepared,” the commissioner said before the court.

The submitted report stated that the family documents of some missing persons are incomplete.

The petitioner’s counsel submitted that the national identity cards of some persons are also blocked.

The court adjourned the hearing for two weeks while ordering to complete the process in a week and submit the report.
