Anoushey Ashraf among others raise questions as wife confirms Arshad Sharif's 'killing'

Many celebrities sent condolences to the late journalist's family

In the early hours of October 24, news of journalist Arshad Sharif being shot dead in Kenya made rounds on Twitter. The news was later confirmed by his wife Javeria Siddique on the micro-blogging website. 

She wrote, "I lost friend, husband and my favourite journalist [Arshad Sharif] today, as per police he was shot in Kenya." She further requested people to respect her family in this hard time, "Respect our privacy and in the name of breaking: please don't share our family pics, personal details and his last pictures from the hospital."

After the news of the senior journalist's death broke out, there was a huge uproar on social media. Many, including prominent celebrities such as Sana Javed, Anoushey Ashraf among others, mourned the death of the newsperson and sent their condolences to his family.

In an Instagram story, actor Imran Ashraf Awan grieved Arshad by saying, "Arshad Bhai, this is truly shocking." Other celebs like Sana shared photos of the slain journalist, remembering his contributions to the news industry.



Sajal Ali also shared her sympathies for the journalist on Twitter.

Shagufta Ejaz posted her condolences online, pointing out the "shocking and devastating" loss for Pakistan. According to her, the journalist who "dared to speak the truth" will remain in people's hearts forever.

Fatima Effendi also posted a heartfelt note on her story. "There will come a day when Pakistan will get justice in God's court. Till then, rest in peace, Arshad Sharif," she said, further highlighting that Arshad was the only "good man, and now has gone to a better place." Then, she prayed for the victim's family, wishing them patience.

Other celebs like Anoushey raised questions regarding the killing, asking the authorities to investigate the murder and find answers. The renowned VJ and actor took her queries to social media by stating, "No one flees unless their life is under threat. And yet, many believe his killing was due to mistaken identity."

After his demise on Monday, several reports become viral of the incident. The Kenyan police officials have declared the shooting "a case of mistaken identity." However, many people still question the incident, waiting for a more precise investigation.
