Many recalled the traumatic fate of some of the beloved characters: Rhaenyra's son Lucerys dead at the hands of Aemond's dragon, Vhagar. One user shared a picture with Daemon saying "traumatised in High Valyrian." While others resort to humour to explain the demise.

In contrast, some fans also expressed their dislike for the finale by mocking the show. For example, one user shared a video clip with the caption, "HBO seeing everyone cancelling their subscription after the House of the Dragon finale."

Another viewer laments his disappointment in watching the finale by comparing it to Game of Throne's eighth season.

Ultimately, fans still mourn the ending as it will require them to wait for another two years. "Wait tonight is the House of Dragon finale? We're done with thrones for another two years? The season just started last week!"
