WASHINGTON:

Acknowledging Pakistan’s suffering at the hands of terrorists, US State Department Spokesman Vedant Patel says that Washington expects sustained action from Islamabad against all terrorist groups.

“Few countries have suffered from terrorism like Pakistan and have a shared interest in combating threats to regional instability and security like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP),” Vedant Patel told his daily news briefing on Tuesday.

This shows that countering militant threat is a common ground defining relationships of both the countries. By expecting ‘sustained action’ from Pakistan, spokesman is acknowledging the country’s efforts against terrorism.

“We seek a strong partnership with Pakistan on counter-terrorism and expect sustained action against all militant and terrorist groups,” he said.

This partnership is practically manifested through the recent F-16 deal between the two countries.

“And we look forward to the cooperative efforts to eliminate all regional and global terrorist threats,” Patel added.
