Six die in Punjab road accidents

At least six people died, whereas 1,034 were injured in 1,012 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Out of this 557 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals. Whereas, 477 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site. The majority (73%) involved motorcycles.

Further, the analysis showed that 530 drivers, 34 underage drivers, 122 pedestrians, and 388 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes.

The statistics show that 279 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 281 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 78 Multan in with 82 victims and at third Faisalabad with 60 RTCs and 58 victims.

The details further reveal that 1040 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 864 males and 176 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 214 were under 18 years of age, 507 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 319 victims were reported above 40 years of age. According to the data 875 motorbikes, 79 rickshaws, 99 cars, 24 vans, 10 passenger buses, 20 trucks and 98 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
