‘Data collected to rebuild 250,000 houses’

Sindh government will give Rs1 million each to the heirs of 785 people who died in rains and floods, Memon said

Sindh Minister for information, transport and mass transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that data of 250,000 houses, damaged during the recent rains and floods, has been collected, including pictures and videos, for reconstruction. He said that committees have been formed at the ta’aluka levels, which include representatives from Army and National Disaster Management Authority, to make the rehabilitation process transparent and to assure that all deserving person whose houses collapsed get the assistance.

Speaking at a press conference Memon said that Sindh Peoples Housing Company has been established for the construction purpose.

He said that it was federal government’s stance that funds should be given to the flood-hit people for the construction of houses, therefore cash transaction will be made in the accounts of affectees in installments and the committees will monitor it.

The minister said that NGOs are also being taken on board in the construction of houses phase.

Memon said, Sindh government will give Rs1 million each to the heirs of 785 people who died in rains and floods. Moreover, ration bags have also been delivered to more than 1.8 million families, he said.
