ISLAMABAD:

The slaughtered body of a 32-year-old taxi driver was recovered from the house of his second wife in Sector G-1 of the federal capital within the limits of Golra Police Station.

Police say that the deceased taxi driver, Anjum, was a resident of Jhelum while his second wife hailed from Kohat. She lives in the house with her children. Anjum contracted a second marriage with Muskan Bibi, who had already been married.

When contacted by The Express Tribune, SHO Shabbir Tanoli said when the police arrived, the body of the taxi driver was lying in the house with his throat slit open. The police received information from the neighbourhood that a call was received on their number from a woman who said that she had killed her husband and his body was lying in the house. The police have registered a case against the second wife of the deceased.

Replying to a question, the SHO said that in the preliminary investigation, the incident shows signs of long-standing enmity in which a sharp knife was used to slit the throat of the victim in such a way that an attempt was made to decapitate his body. He added that the signs of powerful blows of a sharp instrument on the deceased’s neck bone reflect that the murder was carried out in extreme anger and resentment.

The police later shifted the body to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences for medicolegal formalities and launched an investigation into the matter.
