Man ‘kills’ father over refusal to give money

Suspect buries victim in the courtyard of their house

LAHORE:

A 25-year-old man killed his 70-year-old father in a suburban area of Bhakkar, police said.

The accused had allegedly buried the body of his father in the courtyard of their house, they said.

Police identified the accused as Mulazim Hussain, who, they said, killed his father Noor Muhammad because the deceased had refused his son’s demand for money.

Noor Muhammad, a resident of a village in Bhakkar, had sold trees worth around Rs500,000 some 15 days ago.

The deceased's son had asked him for money, but the father refused to oblige him. The accused persisted in his demand for money, but his father remained adamant.

On the fateful day, when Noor Muhammad had been alone in the house, Mulazim Hussain stabbed his father to death, police said.

Meanwhile, Noor Muhammad’s relatives found it odd when they didn’t see him for a couple of days.

His nephew asked the suspect where his uncle had been.

Mulazim Hussain lied to his cousin that his father had gone to help the flood victims.

However, after not getting any news about Noor Muhammad for a few more days, Mulazim Hussain and his cousin filed a complaint with the police, telling them that Noor Muhammad had gone missing.

The son then lied to the police that his father had been kidnapped by unknown persons.

Under the supervision of the DSP of Circle Kalorkot, Kashif Masood Sheikh, an investigation was started and a case of kidnapping was registered.

However, police found the statements and activities of the son suspicious and interrogated him.

Upon interrogation by the police, the accused allegedly confessed to killing his father.

DSP Kashif Mehmood Sheikh told The Express Tribune that Mulazim Hussain during interrogation told the police where he had hidden the body of his father.

Police then recovered the body of Noor Muhammad and had it shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital of Bhakkar for postmortem.
