ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad Police Inspector General (IG) Akbar Nasir Khan said on Tuesday said that cameras installed in commercial areas would be connected with the safe city project to ensure high vigilance in the city.

While addressing the business community during a visit to Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), he said this measure would also improve the security of the city.

“All markets and commercial areas should try to install security cameras that would be connected with the safe city project to ensure better monitoring of the business areas. The installation of new cameras would increase the coverage of key locations and help improve law and order situation in the city,” he remarked.

About the growing crime situation he said, “Intolerance in the society is one of the reasons for rise in crimes and better education is essential to improve tolerance in the society that would bring down the crimes.”

Later on, he along with ICCI President visited F-10 Markaz to inaugurate the installation of cameras in the market. He appreciated Traders Welfare Association F-10 Markaz for installing cameras on a self-finance basis.

ICCI President Bakhtawari said that besides installation of cameras, police patrolling in the markets and industrial areas should be increased. “ICCI, in this connection, is ready to donate motorbikes to police for better monitoring to combat crimes,” he stated.

Further, Bakhtawari lauded the efforts of Traders Welfare Association (TWA), F-10 Markaz, Islamabad for installing cameras in the market with their own resources. “It is a good precedent and other markets and commercial areas should also follow this to improve their security. This would help curb the incidents of thefts, mobile snatching and other crimes in business areas and the city,” he said and extended ICCI’s all-out support to Islamabad Police to make the capital a crime free city.
