BHAKKAR:

In a campaign to create awareness among the people about the dangers of smog, preventive measures for reducing smog are being taken in the district.

Schoolteachers, children and people from different walks of life are being invited to the awareness seminars.

Farmers were told to never burn crop residues. Factory owners should use smoke eliminators. All kiln owners must follow zigzag technology. People were told to get their vehicles tuned on time and not to burn garbage outside their homes.

Meanwhile, Commissioner Maryam Khan sealed 12 smoke-emitting brick kilns and registered cases against their owners in different police stations.

The kiln owners had not implemented the modern zigzag technology despite government orders, and smoke coming out of
the old chimneys was causing smog.
