TANK:

A two-year-old child was killed and another one injured when police raided the house of an outlaw and opened fire on Tuesday in Tank district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

The slain child and his six-year-old cousin are the neighbours of the outlaw and the unfortunate incident happened when police opened fire at the main gate of their house.

“Both the children were hit inside their house. Shayan was rushed to the hospital but he had died before reaching there. His cousin Hinab Bibi was hospitalized in a critical condition,” said a local resident while talking to The Express Tribune.

Police said that they raided the house of a proclaimed offender (PO) Sanober on a tip-off in Kari Saidal village.

“The PO opened fire at police on which police returned the fire. In the exchange of fire both the children were hit. One died on the spot while another one was injured,” said a police official, adding that later the family informed police that their gunshots had killed a child.

“The child was killed by mistake inside his house. Police admitted its mistake and tried to solve the matter through a Jirga which was accepted by the family,” he said, adding that the family will be compensated for their loss.
