Support for new industrial zones promised

Abbasi, Chaudhry also endorse ICCI representation in CDA board

ISLAMABAD:

A delegation of political leaders, on Monday, visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) to congratulate its newly elected office bearers.

Former Special Assistant to Prime Minister Hanif Abbasi, former Federal Minister Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Senator Ahmed Khan, Ziaullah Shah and Raja Hanif Advocate, former MPA Sardar Nasim Khan, former mayor Rawalpindi and President PML-N Women Wing Islamabad Farah Naz Akbar also assured the business body of their support in establishing a new industrial zone in the capital.

The delegation also endorsed the representation of the sitting president of ICCI on the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board.

“11 new routes for Islamabad have been finalised and, very soon, electric buses will be seen providing quality transport that will aid in reducing nearly 50% of the traffic flow in the capital,” said the former special assistant and former federal minister while addressing the business community.

They further added that “All dead development projects of the twin cities, including the Bara Kahu Bypass and Rawal Road Interchange, have been revived to address the traffic issues plaguing the capital and to facilitate the growth of business activities.”

Welcoming the support, President ICCI, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari explained, “The DC rates for land prices have been hiked up by 400-500% due to which the business of the real estate sector is suffering badly,” he warned, emphasising that rationalisation of these rates was essential for the growth of business activities.

The delegation assured cooperation in addressing all the issues highlighted. Later, the ICCI leaders presented the former special assistant Abbasi a cheque of Rs1 million to be put towards the relief efforts being made for the flood affectees.
