Two children drown in pond
At least two children drowned in a pond in Haripur while a ‘distressed’ teenage girl took her own life, it was reported on Sunday.
The kids, both residents of Rawalpindi, were on a trip to Haripur to attend a wedding, sources said.
According to sources, Mohammad Younus and Mohammad Zafran were bathing in a pond adjacent to the central mosque of the village.
In another unfortunate incident, a seventeen-year-old girl ended her life apparently due to poverty and domestic abuse in Khilabat Township of Haripur.
According to the police, the victim (Z) committed suicide by shooting herself in the head.
During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the girl had been sick for about a month and was distressed after having a quarrel over domestic chores.
Bodies of all the deceased were shifted to the hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Later the police handed over the bodies to the heirs after registering cases and taking necessary legal action. The whole area is mourning their untimely demise.
