ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has announced to introduce an amnesty scheme for the construction sector in view of the difficulties faced by it due to Covid and the recent climate-induced floods that wreaked havoc in the country.

In a statement, the PEC vice chairman said that the decision was taken by the body’s management committee.

Under the plan, the construction companies will be able to renew their licence after paying 10 per cent of the previous year fees.

The PEC officials maintained that the organisations associated with the construction sector will be able to benefit from the amnesty scheme till December 31.

The PEC vice chairman said that the date of licence renewal for the construction companies and engineers had been extended to November 30 from September 30.

It has also been decided to extend discount to CPD points for the renewal of licence till December 31.
The PEC vice chairman vowed to take every step for the revival of the construction industry.
