Rs5b rehabilitation plan for deluged areas announced
President Alkhidmat Foundation Muhammad Abdul Shakoor while announced a rehabilitation and reconstruction plan for flood-affected areas, stating that Rs5 billion was earmarked for the initiative. He added that the foundation will provide assistance in the construction of 10,000 houses in the deluged areas.
Rehabilitation work on partially or completely damaged schools, mosques and seminaries will be carried out as part of the plan. Rs500,000 to Rs1 million will be spent on the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the aforementioned buildings. While addressing a briefing about Alkhidmat’s ongoing relief activities, Shakoor said that initially, the reconstruction plan for 200 schools, 200 mosques and 200 seminaries was prepared.
He added that farmers owning 5 acres of land will be given Rs63,000 for seeds, pesticides and fertilizers. This package will be provided to nearly 5,000 farmers. Shakoor added that orphans in the flood-affected districts will be included in the Alkhidmat Foundation’s Orphan Care Program. It is a comprehensive project for looking after orphans, where arrangements are made for education, health, food and upbringing facilities till reaching the age of adulthood.
