81 more dengue cases reported in Rawalpindi

Total tally of infections has crossed 3,600

Dengue virus continues to spread in the cantonment city despite the changes in weather. Around 81 people were infected with Hemorrhage fever caused by the disease in the last 24 hours. The number of people who have lost their lives due to dengue so
far has reached four, while the number of dengue patients has crossed 3,600 in the city.

Currently, as many as 235 dengue patients are under treatment in three public hospitals of the city, of which 42 patients belong from various areas of Islamabad. Of the total infected patients, 93 patients are admitted to Benazir Bhutto General Hospital, 77 patients to Holy Family Hospital and 65 patients to District Headquarters Hospital.

Similarly, dengue infections in Islamabad continue to rise as well, such that 92 people were reported to have been infected with the dengue virus with the death toll reaching seven. District Health Officer said that the total number of infections in the capital has reached 3,515. In the last 24 hours, 52 new cases were reported in the rural areas taking the total tally to 2,056.

Similarly, 40 new cases were reported in the urban areas taking the total tally of infections to 1,459 with 38 patients admitted to PIMS Hospital, seven admitted to General Hospital Chak Shehzad and one patient admitted to CDA Hospital.

Moreover, 36 other infections were also reported via laboratories in the federal capital.

According to the Chief Executive of District Health Authority Dr Ishaq, dengue continues to spread despite changes in the weather.

He said that although winters will reduce the risk of dengue but regardless of that, the anti-dengue campaign would continue to conduct fogging in all the infected areas.
