Karachi violence: Lawyers split over army intervention

Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan told reporters that calling in the army to restore peace was not unconstitutional.

The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has unanimously expressed concern over unabated violence in Karachi but while some members have condemned the possible army operation, others have termed it constitutional. Expressing solidarity with the people of Karachi, the lawyers called upon all political parties to perform their due role in controlling the present situation in Karachi. Other speakers said that calling in the army was not a solution to the present situation. Meanwhile, Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan told reporters that calling in the army to restore peace was not unconstitutional.
