LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday sought a reply from the Law Ministry to a petition challenging the appointment of Capt (retired) Shamsher Ali as acting director general of the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) Punjab office. Justice Ahmad Farooq Sheikh issued this order on a petition filed by Col (retd) Ghulam Jaffar. The petitioner contended that the post of NAB Punjab DG could not be filled until the offices of chairman and deputy chariman were filled, as the law required that they be consulted when appointing a DG. After hearing preliminary arguments, the court issued a notice to the Law Ministry and sought its reply by the second week of September.
