FCCI to distribute mosquito repellent
The Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) has purchased mosquito repellents for distribution among the flood-affected people of Balochistan.
This was announced by the FCCI President, Dr Khurram Tariq, while addressing a meeting of the chamber’s flood relief committee in Faisalabad on Thursday. Haji Muhammad Abid, who had recently visited the flood-affected areas, told the meeting about the situation on the ground.
He said that floodwater had been drained out in Rajanpur, but a vast area of land in Balochistan was still submerged under rainwater. About the outbreak of diseases in the affected areas, he said that malaria was most common which could be prevented with special efforts.
He said that mosquito repellents had been purchased in a bulk quantity which would now be distributed among the inhabitants of the devastated areas.
Muhammad Asim of the Dyes & Chemicals Association said that mosquito repellants could be produced at much cheaper rates.
He promised to submit a comprehensive report during the next meeting which was scheduled to be held next Tuesday.
