Bollywood power couple Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor are ready to take on the biggest role of their lives - welcoming parenthood. The duo is expecting their first baby soon and the gossip surrounding Bhatt's career after embracing motherhood is too loud to ignore.
While Bhatt and Kapoor have always maintained that the Gangubai Kathiawadi star will continue working during and after her pregnancy, many wondered if there would be a hindrance after she's had her baby.
Speaking to CNBC, Bhatt commented that she and her husband had discussed sharing the responsibility for the baby. “I think the journey of discovery will begin once the baby comes. Definitely, the intention is to share, as that’s the most important. Ranbir is very happy," she shared. "He said, ‘Baby you work from this month, so I’ll take time off, and then I come back, and you take time off.’ We just keep taking time off. He is very happy to share that responsibility. He recently said in an interview that he has a ‘big responsibility on his head, and that is to send me (Alia) back to work as the movies will complain if I don’t do my bit as the parent.’”
She went on to add, “When I was younger, it was restricted to pocket money that I received from my mum. I would carefully save up and spend on strange items.” Bhatt further elaborated that her mother handles her money. “I’m not sure how much money I have in the bank, but I do sit with my team and have an idea and a certain sense. But I know my mother is handling it very well, so my relationship with money is it to make it, and for my mother to handle it.”
Previously, the father-to-be, Kapoor, said that his wife will not suffer what her mother had to. “Having a child is a very natural process. It is a gift from God and I understand that the times have changed. Alia will continue to work as hard as she does now in the future as well. There won’t be any obstacle in front of her,” he said.
The Tamasha star had shared that he is ready to shoulder the responsibility of taking care of the family and children after marriage because according to him, it is not only the responsibility of women.
“I am very lucky to have Alia Bhatt as my wife. We both respect and love each other very much. Our future is very bright in the coming days. I know a lot of people are saying that Alia is becoming a mother at the peak of her career, although it never crossed Alia's mind that she is so popular,” he said.
The Rockstar actor added that he can even take time off from work to raise his child. “It is not at all that now that Alia is becoming a mother, the importance of her work will decrease, that will never happen. My wife will not have to sacrifice what my mother did,” he concluded.
